The new Snapdragon 820 chip hardware was unveiled by Qualcomm on Thursday at a presentation in New York. The chip has many other functions besides running apps on mobile phones and tablets. The chip will provide LTE speeds of up to 600 Mbps and support for 802.11ad Wi-Fi. It has a high power efficiency and also utilizes machine learning to trap and kill malware as explained by Engadget.
According to a report by Slash Gear, it is anticipated that users of the gadget will be satisfied with at least five new offerings by Qualcomm. At the top, it provides users with a clearer video. Although the technology is progressing day by day, still there is a chance of low photo and video clarity while taking images by smartphone in a poor light environment. The improvised algorithm of the Snapdragon 820, installed into the Hexagon Vector eXtension system, enables you to turn the dim areas clearer.
In a bid to show the enhanced quality of the 820 chip and improvement of video clarity, a shot of a low-light bouncing scene was taken. The result of the gadget with the Qualcomm chip certified clearer details while simultaneously preserving the brighter parts of the entire frame. Compared to the 820 chip, a regular camera with a different chip lost most of the details in the darker area.
The second offering is an improved quality of sound challenged by the current trend in mobile technology to expand the screens accompanied by thinning of phone bodies. The small remaining space in such phones corresponds to lower-speakers qualities, but the Snapdragon 829 with its new WSA8815 speaker amplifier processes sound in real-time so that a greater sound loudness is achieved.
Providing better sound of voice calls with fewer drops is the third offering. Through an innovative method based on supporting the latest WiFi calling and VoLTE technologies switching between them. Wi-Fi strength and channel quality are the two factors constantly analyzed by Snapdragon’s X12 modem. Upon detection of any change of these factors the chip switches between the two technologies. Also, thanks to the chip’s new embedded technology, as long as the VoLTE is enabled by the network and the Wi-Fi calling is on the same IP subsystem, there will be no need for any system upgrade to the carrier.
The fourth offering is related to antenna signals. Through improvement of the algorithm, Qualcomm has managed to increase data speeds by up to 49 percent and call reliability by up to 30 percent. The fifth and the last offering are designed to eliminate a biometric scanner used on the home button or the back of the camera to unlock the smartphone by simply tapping the display. The reason is that instead of using a sensor equipped with a capacitive system, the sense ID fingerprint authentication of the phone that utilizes ultrasonic waves that enable the smartphone to scan the outer dermis and the skin underneath in details, even with the fingers sticky, wet of greasy.
